My Sweet Puppy chewed up my new kate spade pillow!
This precious poodle puppy ate my new kate spade Hello Sunshine pillow! AHHHHH! Of all the pillows in the house she picked the cutest one to eat. It proves she has great "taste"! I am so sad and don't know if I should get another one to replace it or will she eat that too... My bed is back to all white and I really miss the super-cute yellow sunshine. One day! I only had it for one day! Olivia is in the dog house for this one. I am sure I will forgive her eventually but it will take a while for me to get over this.
Have a great day!

First purchase of kate spade bedding line! Hello Sunshine pillow
This is my first bedding purchase. I just had to get it asap. Sorry for the bad photo, it took it with my phone and then stole it from twit-pics. I am thinking of getting some other bedding stuff but can't decide. I just love a white bed! Maybe another pillow or the rose comforter with the yellow stripe side up at the end of the bed....

Candace Bushnell wearing the kate spade Lilith Skirt on the Today Show
This morning Candace Bushnell was looking really cute in the kate spade new york Lilith skirt on the Today show. I really want that skirt but looking at it on Candace who is pretty tall, it am sure it will be too long on me. I would have to take off the bottom stripe and it might not look as good without it. This is something I am telling myself to discourage me from thinking about it so much...I hope it works.
have a colorful day!

What I wore for Easter: kate spade Be Dazzled Addie Jacket, Sandee Royalty Gold Skirt, Pink kate spade Quinn
We had so much fun today with the family at Easter brunch at Mia Bella! The food was amazing! We went to early service at 9:00 so we were eating brunch by 10:30. Today I wore my new Be Dazzled Addie jacket with a skirt that I designed out of a gold organdy over cream silk. It worked great with the jacket, I think it may also work with my Galleria Addie jacket too. Tomorrow I get a treat because my husband is taking us to the Houston Galleria where the kate spade boutique is located and I get to try on the things on my wish list, finally. I might buy the yellow jacket I have been dreaming of but, if there is something else that strikes my fancy, I am open to that too!
Happy Easter!

How I became a kate spade-aholic...
I thought that I would share my story about how I came to love the kate spade new york brand...
My style has evolved so much over the last 25 years. I have gone through many stages in the process. It really helped that my mom could sew because in high school during the 80's in California, there was not much in the stores for me. I moved to CA from Texas as a Preppy polka-dot sophomore in high school. There was not a preppy to be found in a sea of "new wave" students at my private school. For school clothes, my mom gave me money and we went to the fabric store and bought fabric for skirts and then went to the mall for sweaters to go on top. I also had a Princess Diana book with photos and I would look at them to copy her outfits. I was wearing hats a lot during that phase...lol! Then I found Laura Ashley and Ralph Lauren. I stuck with Ralph throughout the years and still pick up some classic pieces today. The 90's for me were all about RL double breasted blazers and pleated skirts along with my own designs, usually made from floral curtain fabric. I looked like a sofa!
Beginning in 2000 I re-discovered polka dots, leopard and zebra fabric again for a couple of years. Then, I started wearing mostly black and white with some denim here and there just to fit in with the rest of the northern fashion scene. I loved Kate Spade for accessories but there was no apparel collection at the time.
Moving back to Texas 4 years ago really helped me get back into living colorfully. I had access to a Banana Republic shop, where there was a new Creative Director named Deborah Lloyd, who was coming up with these great colorful clothes! I couldn't stay away from the store and saved up my money and ordered an entire collection online in the spring. Then it was gone. I asked at Banana about what happened and they told me that they had lost their Creative Director to kate spade.
I remember seeing the first clothing pieces at my kate spade boutique! I stopped at the window and looked inside...I loved it! It had a certain charm that I had been missing. I have always enjoyed designing clothes for myself but, would much rather buy something already made ( I am a little lazy.) The kate spade clothing was exactly what I had been looking for! In the spring of 2008 I found the kate spade website and went nuts for the first complete apparel collection by Deborah Lloyd. The Esti skirts and Jillian dresses with classic coats and daisy jewelry had me hooked for life.
That is when I became a kate spade-aholic. I can remember exactly where I was sitting in the breakfast room when I saw those pictures on the internet! It was like a moment in time, where the world stood still, while I gazed at the loveliness on the computer screen. The obsession has gotten worse and worse with each passing season and new collection. While I still design a few items for myself, I now wear kate spade almost entirely.
I wonder how long this obsession I have with kate spade new york will last. Is it just another phase in my style development or am I going to be a kate spade Grandma, passing on my Quinn collection on to my daughter and granddaughter? I will just have to wait and see. As for now, the coming fall collection is something I dream about at night and during the day too! Thank you to Deborah Lloyd and all the folks at kate spade new york for adding so much color and fun to my life! I hope we have many more years together.
What is your kate spade story? How long have you loved the brand and how do you handle the kate spade obsession on a daily basis? Please share!

Loving kate spade new york Summer Looks!
These looks are so uniquely styled! I love when a company takes their clothing and turns it into a unique work of art. ksny does this in such a great way! It really helps to see how the different pieces can look great many ways. I don't want to get stuck in a rut, just wearing my clothes one way. I think of each piece as part of a collage that I am composing every day when I get dresses. I am so thankful for the color that kate spade brings to my "artwork". It may be hard to believe but at one time in my life, I wore only black an white. I wanted to wear color but the options available were tacky not timeless like kate spade new york's style. Things from 2 seasons ago are still fresh and I enjoy wearing them. It is a good thing because the clothes cost so much! No more disposable wardrobe for me!
Have a Colorful day!

kate spade bedding has arrived at Bed Bath and Beyond! Yay!
I was so excited to see this display!!!!! Now to make the decision what to buy! I think def. the hello sunshine pillow and the yellow and white stripe one and.... Now that I see it in person, I really like the garden floral one up close. The heirloom rose is not that great when you are right next to it but from far away, it is my favorite. I really wanted the his and hers pillows but I may just have some made and buy these other instead. They didn't have any of the black and white range at all. Maybe some bigger stores have it all. I will check my other one to see. It is not online as of this posting but it could be anytime now. Have a super duper day!

what I wore: kate spade Mercury Haley skirt, white oxford shirt, kate spade green flower pin
I am so excited about my outfit! I have not really liked my Mercury Haley skirt because I ordered it one size too large. I was inspired by the Lilith skirt to add a belt and it looks so much better! I added a little pop of green to give a nod to the color of the month and then some pink with my hot pink kate spade Quinn. It is a crazy week so I better scoot! My mother in law is coming on Saturday to stay for the weekend. I have to get all my ducks in a row before she arrives. AHHHHH!

Head over to a kate spade outlet this weekend! 40% off sale!
There are lots of super cute outlet only bags right now! I saw a lovely straw quinn and a giraffe tote with matching giraffe pencil case that I must have! here is a link to the pencil case on ebay Last Friday I picked up the Be Dazzled Addie jacket in gold and cream for my Easter outfit. I realized with the busy week I have, a trip to the Galleria kate spade store was not going to happen so I needed to get something for Easter at the outlet. I was excited to find the jacket (it had been on my wishlist for the holidays) and I am making a full skirt in gold organdy to wear with it.
What are you wearing for Easter?

kate spade @ Neimans goes WILD!
I have always had a leaning toward animal prints since I was a little girl. My Grammy and Nana booth would wear long leopard Caftans in the 70's. My Grammy (great-grandmother) who was a famous synchronized swimmer in the 20's (see photo) had a gorgeous leopard swimsuit that I remember coveting as a child. She actually was offered the role of Jane in the Tarzan movies of the 20's but turned it down to elope with my great-grandfather. I am the proud owner of her leopard coat from the 60's and enjoy sharing the family bond of animal print.
This kate spade summer collection is full of animal references including the too-cute Elephant basket purse that I am wishing for. It is available on Neimanmarcus.com for pre-order. I can't decide if I really need it or if I should get a dress instead. I still haven't gotten the yellow jacket for Easter because I haven't made it over to the store to try it on. I may just have to order it online but I want it to get here by Easter so I have to hurry.

what I wore: kate spade Tutti Frutti skirt, J crew cardigan
Today I was inspired by my kate spade gift box with the turquoise top and red bottom. It is in my closet and I see it everyday. Today, I decided to make and outfit with those colors because they looked so pretty together. This skirt has lots of pink but it does have some red in it too so I brought it out with a red flower and pink flower combo.
Have a great day!

Watch Out! Loads of Counterfeit kate spade on Ebay right now!
This darling dress is what alerted me to the rash of Counterfeit kate spade new york on Ebay right now. It is so cute but, it has a subtle difference from the original Jillian dress. Notice the scoop neckline! We all know that the Jillian has a high neckline and scoop back. Here, this dress has a neckline that is even with the back scoop. The Jillian has been copied in several different fabrics (mostly polka dot) and sold on Ebay. I was the sad purchaser of two of those dresses. While trying to get a "deal" to feed my addiction to kate spade, I did not realize that I was purchasing a fake. I was able to return it and get my full paid amount back but I am emotionally scarred after opening that package and finding out that my dress was counterfeit.
At first glance today, I saw Candy shop Janette Stripe dresses, Briella dresses and several skirts that appear to be counterfeit. They look very much like the real thing but have small differences. I have two Briella dresses and they do not have darts under the arms. The ones listed on Ebay do! The Candy Shop Janette has stripes that do not meet up on the sides and if they do, some of them meet with a different color on the back than the front! A couple of pleated skirts with the same pattern as the Mercury Haley skirt have shown up using a fabric not even in the ksny range. They label it kate spade but it is not kate spade. Please be careful when purchasing something from Ebay. They really try to stop the counterfeiting but it keeps popping up. If something looks too good to be true.....
This one is the funniest!(If you can even laugh at something as serious as counterfeiting ksny)
My goodness Jemma, what a large head you have! This is a dress made from the paper hearts fabric (or copy of) that ksny used on the Iris top. To better market this counterfeit dress, the seller enlisted the help of a celebrity from the hit TV show Glee....
I think a visit to the kate spade outlet is in store for me tomorrow. I like being sure that what I buy is authentic. I am hoping for some new apparel shipments so I can have more to choose from. I have purchased everything that they have in my size so I need more! I would love to see a striped Briella dress because somehow I missed out on that one. It was in the sale section and then poof! It was gone. I never give up hope.

what I wore: Green stripe Katie Skirt, Black boat-neck T, kate spade basket purse in green
I went on a picnic with my Daughter and puppy Olivia today! The weather here in Houston is lovely and breezy. It was the perfect day for a green Katie skirt and kate spade basket purse. I would just love a huge kate spade picnic basket stocked with kate spade dishes(unbreakable of course) and napkins in a great kate spade rose floral! A girl can dream right? I am headed out to mail some skirts and visit my neighborhood Target. Maybe a Starbucks run too or maybe Sonic today. Have a great Monday afternoon!

What I wore: New Gingham Katie skirt (coming soon!), kate spade ruffle top, orange cardi, Fossil wedges, kate spade basket purse
Today I wore my new navy gingham Katie skirt! I am excited about this new skirt for summer. I tried a new design but went back to the Katie because "why change perfection?" I am going to be making this available in navy gingham check and red gingham check as soon as I finish up all my current orders for the stripes. If you have ordered before, I will send out an email to let you know when it is available so you can be first in line.

kate spade-aholic's Picks for Easter Sunday!
I have narrowed the choices down to these pieces. I can't decide which one I want to purchase for my "Easter Outfit." I love them all. I am trying to come up with a pros and cons list for each one and then pick based on that. If I get the yellow jacket, what am I going to wear on the bottom? Are white jeans acceptable for Easter? The Lilith skirt is so cute but it looks a lot like the stripe skirts that I make and wear almost every day. The Candy Shoppe dress makes me look busty but it is so cute. The pink stripe is really great but can really only be worn in the spring and summer. The other option is the navy polkdot Jillian which I could wear year round here in Texas because of the cream background. I can just throw a cardi on in the winter. Any suggestions? What are you wearing? Easter is at the end of the month so if you want the best picks you have to get your outfit early. I need to think about it before I am ready to commit.

kate spade Green Film by Mike Perry! CUTE!
this
This cute green film makes me want a kaleidoscope! I found the cutest candy kaleidoscope at the online science mall. You put candy inside and twist it to see the cool designs. When you are finished, you can eat the candy!
What a fun party favor! Do you remember having a kaleidoscope as a child? I loved spinning it and seeing the designs change. I have always loved color and pattern!
