resort 2013 sneek peek

It is time for a preview of the resort 2013 collection from kate spade!  After viewing the fall collection, the resort offerings are quite different. The print of the month is a geometric kaleidoscopic design and the colors are very unique.

It is interesting to see that the hem lengths have not gotten any longer.  That is good for this short girl!  I didn't know what I was going to to if the midi dress stayed in vogue.  I guess from these choices I would have to place my vote for the hot pink/red color blocking concept which is not new to ksny.  The look on the bright side tee is cute but really "bright"!   What are your thoughts?

here is the little write-up from WWD (Women's Wear daily):

The mood remained ever cheerful at chez Spade, where creative director Deborah Lloyd finished off her year of Florence Broadhurst prints with a kaleidoscopic gem and jewel pattern on flirty dresses and separates.
Other bold graphics included oversize stripes in hot pink and red, and a geometric color-block motif. Accessories were equally happy in near-neon brights shown on the new Gracie and Kennedy bags, and a thick platform sandal that showed an edgier direction for the brand. (wwd)

Have a colorful day!

Ooh, I *love* that yellow and grey geometric print dress! Especially since I just bought the Irving Place Little Nadine handbag in French Grey (I felt I probably should have at least one neutral bag). It is so adorable (large polka dot lining!).
Happy to see KS trying longer sleeves on their shirt-dresses.

I thought it was funny when I saw the striped coat, since I had just been on Talbot's website and seen two very cute, KS-esque hot pink & orange dresses:

Yacht-Stripe Dress

Ponte-Stripe Dress

zyzzyva, I just pinned those dresses yesterday on pinterest! I am going to make a pink and red one for myself inspired by this trend. I may go over to talbots to try on the dresses first just in case they are perfect, then I don't have to make them!

I hate to say I'm disappointed. I really think that KS hit a home run last spring with the green (they called it vine) elements, and it's been hard for them to follow that.

Here, I like the pink and red combo, but it's not enough. And I'm sorry to say that the yellow dress is just awful. Way too '70s Carol Brady era. KS looked like a genius last spring. This spring, they look like a different company, and it's not an improvement. (I'm not a fan of the Florence B graphics influence.)

I guess I'll have to wait for their theme for next year to see if the KS I really liked returns.
