Jillian look-alikes

Belks has a couple of dresses that look just like Jillian dresses from Kate spade new york! I saw the floral one at Ross for $16 but it wasn't my size. I really like the green and white stripe!

Made a rainbow of my own too!

Before I found the rainbow Jillian, I started this dress from cotton twill. I went ahead and finished it after getting the other dress because I can wear cotton anytime and it is great for the summer. I am thinking of offering it or a Katie skirt in this rainbow fabric on my etsy shop. I love the colors and the crisp feel if the fabric! I will wear it soon so you can see it styled with a cardigan and Kate spade accessories.

Found my dream dress at Nordstrom!

I found this dress at Nordstrom rack on friday! I thought this lovely print was only available in the Janette dress but there it was in my absolute all time favorite style, the Jillian!!!! I saw the counterfeit version of this dress on eBay last year and one of my readers ordered it and had to return it because it wasn't authentic. This one is true blue!! Or rainbow...
I am on cloud nine!!

What I wore: 50's inspired dress

I found the inspiration for this dress on pinterest. It was so fun to make but a little challenging. I put buttons down the front like my inspiration dress. That was a little extra work but worth it! I didn't wear a petticoat because I didn't want to look too poofy at church. Next time I will wear one because it is so fun to be poofy!

Outlet trip was really successful yesterday!

I had one of the best trips ever to the Kate spade outlet yesterday! My mom is visiting from Michigan and we are shopping till we drop all week. I have already spent my money and then some at the outlet yesterday. I got great deals and also a new Quinn bag!
I am attaching some pics of what I got but will post better ones "in real life" later. We are off to shop at anthropologie and forever 21 today!

Wore my new Eat Cake tee today!

My DIY eat cake shirt is a little different pink than the kate spade version but it works perfectly with my KSNY skirt from a couple of years ago. I wore it to my breakfast club at chick fil a this morning. I really love it!

New tee shirts look great!

I just got my new shirts from spreadshirt.com in the mail and I totally love them! They are really fitted heavy weight cotton and very nicely done. I am trying to think of some other fun phrases to put on shirts now! I just love the simplicity of a bold typeface with a fun statement. I highly recommend this company and the basic standard weight t-shirt. It was only $12.50 per shirt with the graphic included. I chose the digital direct option for printing on my shirts. Have fun with it and just DIVE IN.

New ksny Celina dress is amazing!!!!

I love the new Celina dress from kate spade new york!  It is available for pre-order on Nordstrom.com here  This dress is one I may try to sew because it seems pretty simple.  I am going to attempt to make the stripes myself out of two colors of fabric instead of trying to find a fabric already printed with stripes.  This way I can choose any colors I want.  I like the way the bodice is pleated in the front on to a shaped waistband.  I will have to find a pattern for this one asap.  I will let you know what I end up doing...

What I wore for Easter

For Easter I wore my new navy stripe kate spade dress with some red kate spade heels and my ksny park avenue pearls necklace.  This shape of dress is my favorite right now!  I love the bow because it covers my tummy and looks so cute.  I bought this dress along with a black one in the same style at the kate spade outlet.  It is the outlet version of the Jillian dress that is so popular.  This version is missing the pockets in the front which is fine with me because it adds bulk at my middle.  I love it that the outlet has some reasonably priced versions of kate spade favorites.  That reminds me... I need to visit the outlet this week.  I need something new.

I made the coolest t shirts on Spreadshirt.com

After seeing this tee on the kate spade new arrivals, I decided that I should try to make my own.  I went to spreadshirt.com and made one for $12.40.  I picked the cheapest women's tee but they had some better ones for more $$ I just wanted to see how it looks before I invest any more.

I bought this super cute dress at Jc Penny today!  I just love it and am going to wear it with my yellow j crew cardigan and some yellow or grey heels.  I may even put a petticoat underneath to make it poofy.  It is prettier in person and only $40!!!

video tour of kate spade Florence bus!

Blogger and fashion writer Christine Rose Elle shared the most darling tour of the Florence Broadhurst bus with her readers and with youtube.  I am so thankful because I missed the bus- literally, when it was in Austin.  There was no way for me to get away to South by Southwest Music fest while kate spade new york was there.  I was so sad.  I am much happier now though because I was able to see the inside of the bus courtesy of Christine.  Yay!  Check out her blog post about the bus tour also.  She is super cute and fun!

New kate spade/ Florence Broadhurst inspired dress!

 Yesterday while I was supposed to be sewing Katie skirts, I whipped up this little dress inspired by the kate spade Florence Broadhurst Cameo Dress.

There is an inset waistband and a two layer skirt. I made the dress a little longer for a vintage look

I styled it simply with a black cardigan and pearls.

Wednesday Words of Wisdom

This weeks words of wisdom are for those of us like me, who can get excited about anything and everything and do it at full volume!  I try to tone it down but it is really hard.  If I see a friend in the store, everyone knows it.  When I am in target and find some cute shoes, people come running because I broadcast it to the world.  The ladies at the cutting table at JoAnn's know everything I am making because I tell everyone how excited I am about the fabric.  I post pictures about my outfits on the internet because I just want to share the excitement with others.  

The problem comes when I am not excited about something that I have to accomplish or wear, or eat...I have nothing to give. Nada. I think I only have two sides, love and hate.  Emptying the dishwasher is something that I can't get enthusiastic about so it doesn't get done as often as it should.  Cooking is another area that I am working on building up enthusiasm for.  It must be done so I have to come up with a fun, creative way to do it or I will hate it.  Pinterest has helped with that a bit.  It gets me excited enough over a recipe to actually pin it!  That is the first step right?

How do you motivate yourself to do unpleasant tasks? Do overly enthusiastic people bother you?

What I wore: Slightly Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz

Yesterday I was in a fun mood and wanted to be a little "costumey" in my outfit of the day.  I only was going to go to Target, Goodwill and the Post Office so I wouldn't be seen by any fashionistas.  I wore my crinoline petticoat under the gingham dress for a little 50's vibe.  I also wore my vintage sweater clip to add to the look.  As I posted on instagram, I did get a few stares from folks but it was fun.  I am going to do this look again with the poofy crinoline because I felt like a cupcake, floating through the day! I think my daughter thought it was too much but I wanted to make a statement for myself and I think I did...lol!

I just love the looks on these ladies faces while they are working.  They are smiling and concentrating at the same time.  A lot goes into these products.  It makes me want to buy one of those circle basket bags now that I have seen them made!

Finding great deals on kate spade on Ebay!

kate spade new york  Eyelet Raquel Dress from ebay for under $70

I have been spending time looking on ebay for deals recently and found this great dress for a steal!  I loved this Raquel dress last summer when I saw it on the manager, Michelle, at my local kate spade boutique.  I was so excited to find it on ebay "new with tags" and bid high for it, hoping that I would win.  To my surprise, I won at a low bid and was enjoying the new dress within a week!  I am cautious when buying on ebay because there are so many counterfeiters out there.  I see dresses everytime I look that I know are not authentic.  I always shop at sellers that I trust or ones that let you return the item if it is not genuine.  I was happy that this dress turned out to be lovely and I can't wait to wear it all spring and summer long.  Have you shopped on ebay for kate spade?  How has your experience been?
