Florence Broadhurst bedding is finally available at katespade.com

It is really nice but quite pricey.  I am sad....

I don't want to talk about it.

What I wore: New Hot Pink Striped Katie Dress

Today is the day I could finally wear my favorite dress!  I have been sewing everyday so I haven't gotten out to wear something cute in a few days.  Today I wore the hot pink and white striped Katie Dress.  Harrison was graduating from the University of Houston Pre-Law Institute ( a month long pre-law intensive course) this afternoon and I decided to knock their black and gray lawyer socks off with my hot pink striped dress.  I have listed it on etsy now so you can have one too!  It fits like the Katie Skirt but has a fitted bodice attached. The more stripes the better I always say...

5th and Pacific Corporate (Kate Spade) from David Sauvage on Vimeo.

This video is a promo for the new 5th and Pacific Company that hosts the kate spade new york brand.  It is interesting to see how they are re-grouping from the struggling Liz Claiborne Company.  Also, Deborah Lloyd makes an appearance on the video!!!

What i wore: Kate spade sea worthy addy jacket

It was a jeans day for me today as I have been trying to make myself wear jeans at least once a week. I wore a striped tee underneath the Addie jacket in red white and blue. It is the Sunday before the fourth so I was being patriotic a little early. Thank you to Jules for the jacket! I love it!
Have a restful day!

What I wore: New katie dress in black and white stripe

I finished my new Katie dress design for my etsy shop and wore it today with a hot pink cardigan and some kate spade flower pins.  It is my new favorite!  I am working on a hot pink and white version next to wear with green.  I made this dress a stripe longer than my katie skirts for a different look.  I like it for myself because of my age but I can see how younger gals might want it shorter.  I added a bow belt but it also looked good alone.  What do you think of it?  Too many stripes?  I have a thing for them you know...

Kate spade sale is on sale!

Prices are as marked! Run don't walk!!!
**update** watch out because the fine print says that only select items are marked 25% off the sale price.  If you have been watching something, be sure it is on sale before purchasing it!  Also, my outlet in Houston has several of these things much cheaper than even the sale price on katespade.com .  Give an outlet a call before you buy!

Cute $15 sandals at target!

I picked up some really cute sandals at my local target and I just had to share them with you! I think the colors are very Kate spade- they come on pink, minty turquoise, cream and black. They are very comfortable and worth the $15 price tag. Run out and get some or find them online at target.com.

Father's day outfit of the day

On father's day I wore an older Kate spade esti skirt and ruffle top from one of the earliest Deborah lloyd designed apparel collections. The cardi was jcrew. It covers the ruffles on the sleeves but i was cold in the restaurant so I had to put on the sweater. I love the color blocking on the skirt. It is from spring 2009 but right on trend for today!

The best tea ever! Bigelow vanilla caramel

I seriously must share this amazing tea with you! Bigelow vanilla caramel tea. It taste a little sweet without the calories or fake taste. I am addicted!

Where oh where has my kate spade gone?

If I didn't find these in the kate spade new york section of Nordstrom.com , I would not believe that they were from kate spade!  I recognize a few of the shapes but the look is totally different!  I am hoping that this is just a problem with Nordstrom's photographs and this is not really what they look like in real life.  If anyone has seen these, please let me know.  I was so surprised to see these.  What am I going to wear if this is what kate spade is becoming????  I heard that ksny was trying to be "edgier" and get the younger buyers but this looks like my grandma's closet.  Sorry, I shouldn't say anything until I see them in person....

Now to cleanse your pallet, here are some pics from the earlier kate spade collections...

I hope that my favorite brand keeps the same look and feel because I have nowhere to turn if they change too much.  I have been looking at anthropologie and J Crew and I can't find a thing that I just love and can't live without.  Maybe it is for the best because I have been enjoying designing my own clothes anyway.

Have a super day and Live Colorfully!

resort 2013 sneek peek

It is time for a preview of the resort 2013 collection from kate spade!  After viewing the fall collection, the resort offerings are quite different. The print of the month is a geometric kaleidoscopic design and the colors are very unique.

It is interesting to see that the hem lengths have not gotten any longer.  That is good for this short girl!  I didn't know what I was going to to if the midi dress stayed in vogue.  I guess from these choices I would have to place my vote for the hot pink/red color blocking concept which is not new to ksny.  The look on the bright side tee is cute but really "bright"!   What are your thoughts?

here is the little write-up from WWD (Women's Wear daily):

The mood remained ever cheerful at chez Spade, where creative director Deborah Lloyd finished off her year of Florence Broadhurst prints with a kaleidoscopic gem and jewel pattern on flirty dresses and separates.
Other bold graphics included oversize stripes in hot pink and red, and a geometric color-block motif. Accessories were equally happy in near-neon brights shown on the new Gracie and Kennedy bags, and a thick platform sandal that showed an edgier direction for the brand. (wwd)

Have a colorful day!

What I wore: candy shop Jillian dress

I love this dress so much!

Get it while you can at the kate spade outlet!

This holding court Quinn is at the Kate spade outlet in Houston for around $118! It came in yesterday and they have a few so give them a call and they can ship you one. It is super cute in person! It rubs and catches a little on my silk dresses but it is for wearing with casual things anyway. Thanks to Ashley at the outlet for the heads up about the bag! She knew I had been wanting it and gave me a call as soon as she unpacked it. Yay! My Quinn collection is growing!

What I wore: gingham dress

The picture isn't very good but the outfit was cute! I felt like Dorothy from the wizard of oz. I almost carried my basket purse but that really made me look like I was wearing a costume. I love this style dress. I have plans for making another one out of hot pink gingham soon!

Playing dress-up and organizing at the same time!

Yesterday I wrote about how I divided up my wardrobe into two "vacations" and pretended to pack using my closet as the suitcase. It has really helped simplify my summer dressing and made my life a little more fun! I put some pics on instagram while I was organizing so if you missed them I wanted to post them here too. It was a mess but my closet looks great again and I love everything in it.
Have a wonderful day!

kate spade new york goes to Morocco!

I got this email yesterday about the summer campaign from kate spade new york.  They are inspired by Moroccan style this summer with the unique colors and metallics that go along with that fun style.  The pattern of the month is paisley, done in a black and white to keep it fresh and neutral.  In this email, the featured icon is the camel, done up in the paisley and looking so cute!  The colors for the summer are purple. orange and bright green with pops of gold and silver.

I was inspired by this campaign to re-do my wardrobe into two pretend "vacations" for the months of June/July.  The first one is to the seaside somewhere in the USA where I can wear red, white and blue with touches of yellow.  That "vacation" has a nautical feel with all my stripes and resort/cruise style outfits. I emptied my closet and put only the clothes that I would wear on that vacation as if it were my huge suitcase! I also pulled all the accessories that I would take to go with that theme.  It was so much fun to pretend to pack for a trip, knowing I was really just staying home to wear all these clothes around town.  The second vacation is to .... Morocco! Of course.  I pulled all my purple, pink, turquoise, black and white for this one.  I also put in my silver and gold jackets and lots of shiny accessories.  I am really taking a risk with this one because I don't normally BLING as much as I will wearing these outfits.  I grouped them all together in one half of my closet and the other vacation in the other half.

Now, I can decide where I want to go each day: Somewhere exotic or somewhere fun and fresh.  Everything else is put away safely so there are no other colors or things that don't match in the closet at all!  I will post pictures of the process that I put on instagram yesterday.  It was a mess but I ended up with something really fun and I like my clothes much better now that they are going somewhere exciting.  Now I need to plan a few trips so I can play along with my wardrobe!

Yellow and white dress design: I love stripes!

It started as a solid yellow dress but after I cut it out I realized that the skirt wasn't full enough. Soooo, I took a cue from a Kate spade dress and added some white in stripes to make the fabric go further. I love it when a mistake turns out better than the initial design!

My etsy shop is on vacation until July 4

Flutter-by Charm Skirt

Just a note to let you know that my etsy shop is on vacation until July 4.  I have so many orders, I need to catch up and take a breather from the sewing machine.  After releasing the Charm Skirt, I was overwhelmed with the response for skirts and am sewing constantly to fulfill the orders.  I also have a few weddings to finish up with bridesmaids skirts.  If you have an emergency and need to order a skirt or a wedding that you were planning on ordering skirts for, please contact me via email.  I just needed to slow things down a bit so I can enjoy the summer.

This is the last summer that my son, Harrison is home before he leaves for College at Texas A&M university.(Gig Em Aggies!)  Because he graduated early and was so young, have been able to keep him for 2 years at home while he went to Community College. Now, at 18, he has transferred to A&M as a Junior.  MY BABY!  I am pretty emotional about it but am trying to make the most of the few months we have left with him.  There is always the chance he will come home in two years to go to law school at the University of Houston which is nearby but his personal goal is to attend the University of Texas for law school which is in Austin.

I have planned some fun family activities to do together this summer so we will be making memories!  I am also trying to help my daughter, who will be a high school junior, find her calling in life.  She isn't sure what she wants to do so I am throwing out lots of ideas so she can veto them!  Last night I was talking about Film School and the night before it was Music...  She is a creative and can do anything she wants but the problem is she doesn't want to do anything! lol.  She is only 15 so that will change, I hope.

Soooo, I said all that to say...I have shut down my shop for the month and If you need to order anything, just email me and I will make a special listing for you, my special friend.  I will still be posting on the blog this summer, just not sitting at the sewing machine all day.
Have a super duper day!

kate spade has the best loafers EVER!

The Cora loafer!  Ahhhhh! I am so in love.  It is only $225 and covered with rose gold glitter!  This is the best little loafer I have ever seen and I am considering it for my next purchase.  I have a problem with the sizing on kate spade shoes because it seems I am between a 5.5 and 6.  I can't decide which one to go for in this loafer so I will be ready for it not to fit either way.  I hope this shoe is as amazing in person as it is to me online.  I have been looking for a gold loafer, but the glitter takes it into another sparkle-sphere!
Do you have any gold loafers? Any glitter shoes?

What I wore to church today: kate spade dress in navy stripe and green cardi

I purchased this dress for Easter and this is the second time to wear it so I tried a different color scheme. I added a Kelly green cardigan from Nordstrom and wore my Kate spade daisy statement necklace. It really made it look cheery and fresh with the green accents.
Off to take my Sunday afternoon nap!
