Kate spade outlet has a piano clutch and so do I!

I visited my Houston Kate spade outlet today to see all my friends and I found this darling piano clutch. It is very different than the Recital Farrah clutch from last fall but really cute and roomy. The price I paid with major discounts was a little over $100! That is a steal for something this cute from kate spade. They still had more so give the Houston outlet a call and they will send you one. Do it while the 40% off sale is still on. You won't regret it!!! I can't wait to carry it to the symphony next time.

Ha, ha! I forgot that I have this  Anne dress available on my etsy shop...I guess it will have to do for me since I already own it!  I can't believe how much it looks like the ksny one and I didn't even see it before.  I could do some cool binding details on the neckline if I wanted to be a copycat but I wear cardigans over everything anyway so you wouldn't even see it!  I think my skirt is fuller but that is better for me because I love to wear petticoats on special occasions like going to Target....

the kate spade look for less: Polka Dot Ipad case

Polka dots are one of the up and coming themes for kate spade new york's fall collection.  I was really liking this $50 ksny neoprene ipad sleeve so I thought I would look for a cheaper version that had the same look.

Katia Kuethe is kate spade's Director of Creative

There is change in the air at kate spade new york!  They have new offices and a new Director of Creative who will be helping out Deborah Lloyd who is the President and Chief Creative Officer of ksny. Her name is Katia Kuethe and she is coming from Teen Vogue of all places.  She says she wants to streamline things an expand the customer base to include a younger crowd.  You can read the entire q and a article here

Back to school- decorate your desk with kate spade!

Old navy has heart sweaters!!!!

I am ordering both of these in petite. I like that they are boat neck and three quarter sleeves too. The petite will be just the right length to wear untucked with jeans or tucked in with a Katie skirt. Love love love!!!!!

Wore a little floral dress yesterday

I visited the mall yesterday wearing a 50's inspired floral dress that I made using the Anne dress design. It needed a petticoat to get the 50's look otherwise it was just a floral dress. The length is really more 60's because I hemmed it to my knee.  That is my favorite length because I am so short. I also made a matching Opera coat that is reversible to match it. I didn't wear it shopping because it is too dressy when worn as a set. I used a vintage pattern that I ordered from etsy to make the coat. It is quite the statement...Not sure I want to speak that "loudly".  It was inspired by the loose fitting kate spade Micah coat but made it longer for a dressy look.  Mine reverses from a gingham to the floral of the dress.  It looked really cute with black pencil capris and a white top on the floral side.  In the pic it looks like a sack but in real life, it is much cuter.  I promise.  It makes me feel like Doris Day!

It is time to do the happy dance!  It has been reported that ksny filed last August and then registered the name Kate spade Saturday back in February and is planning on launching a lower priced line that is hipper and edgier for the younger crowd. I hope this will clean up the original kate spade brand and allow their offerings return to the classic, preppy and cute styles of the past!  I think a separate name for the "younger" group of products is really great!

It is rumored be like J Crew's Madewell or Chris Burch's C. Wonder line. It will  focus on lower priced home goods, shoes and jewelry but I hope some apparel is in there too! A lower price point would be appreciated by me but I won't forsake my first love of kate spade new york!

What I wore: the Anne Dress

This is the new Anne dress with a full, full skirt!  I wore a petticoat underneath and got three compliments in the bathroom at the Houston symphony.  The bodice has a higher neckline in the front and back so I can wear the cute removable peter pan collars that I am making for my shop.  This fall is going to be the season of the peter pan collar for me!  I am offering this dress in lots of colors but I haven't listed them all yet.  I just put the green one on today, you can find it here,

Kate Spade Sued for $1M over Poppy Print

This is one for all my lawyer katespade-aholics:

kate spade new york or Kate Spade who is no longer with the company ( I don't know which one exactly) is being sued over the poppy print from a few years ago because it looks a lot like Vera Neumann's painting from the 1970's.  There are several different poppy prints by both Vera and ksny so I don't know which ones are in question.  While I agree it is all "inspired by" Vera's poppies, I don't see how they can sue over it.  This is the time to comment lawyers and law students, please find out all the details and share your insights!

New Kate Spade Things we Love Book!

It is coming in January but available for pre-order on Amazon.com right now. Thanks to Kimberly for the heads-up!  The list price is $40 but it is available to order now for $27.33.  I wonder if it is the same as the other things we love book or is it something new....
